According to Seyyed Hossein Nasr, these traditional religious sciences Other issues studied are kalimat dakhila (the investigation of the foreign origin of some Quranic terms) naskh (studying contradictory verses to determine which should be abrogated in favor of the other), study of "occasions of revelation" (connecting Quranic verses with "episodes of Muhammad's career based on hadith and biographies of him - which are known as sira), chronology of revelation, the division of quranic chapters ( surahs) into " Meccan surah" (those believed to have been revealed in Mecca before the hijra) and " Medinan surah (revealed afterward in the city of Medina). There are two types of exegesis to explain and interpret the Quran: tafsir (literal interpretation) and ta’wil (allegorical interpretation). Muslims have developed their own Quranic studies or "Quranic sciences" ( ‘ulum al Qur’an) over the centuries, following the Quranic encouragement "Will they not contemplate the Quran?"( 4:82). The traditional Muslim understanding of the Quran is not that it is simply divinely inspired, but the literal word of God the last and complete message from God, from his final messenger (Muhammad) superseding the Old and New Testament and purified of "accretions of Judaism and Christianity". Revered by pious Muslims as "the holy of holies", whose sound moves some to "tears and esctasy", it is the physical symbol of the faith, the text often used as a charm on occasions of birth, death, marriage. Muslim views of criticism įor Muslims the contents of the Quran have been "a source of doctrine, law, poetic and spiritual inspiration, solace, zeal, knowledge, and mystical experience." "Millions and millions" of whom "refer to the Koran daily to explain their actions and to justify their aspirations", and in recent years many consider it the source of scientific knowledge. This was not created/written by God, but an attribute of Him, co-eternal and kept with Him in heaven. That revelation in turn is identical to an eternal “mother of the book” the archetype /prototype of the Quran. Thus, according to Islamic teaching, it was insured that the wording of the Quranic text available today corresponds exactly to the literal, infallible, "perfect, timeless", "absolute" unadulterated word of God revealed to Muhammad. In the next few centuries, the religion and empire of Islam solidified, and an enormous body of religious literature and laws were developed, including commentaries/exegeses ( Tafsir) to explain the Quran. Ĭopies of this codex or " Mus'haf" were sent to the major centers of what was by this time a rapidly expanding empire, and all other incomplete or "imperfect" variants of the Quranic revelation were ordered by Uthman to be destroyed. From these memories and scraps, a standard edition was carefully complied and edited under the supervision of Caliph Uthman not long after Muhammad's death. Muhammad shared these revelations - which brought uncompromising monotheism to humanity - with his companions who wrote them down and/or memorized them. See also: Historical reliability of the Quran, History of the Quran, and Historicity of Muhammad Traditional view Īccording to Islamic tradition, which criticism may question or contradict, the Quran followed a passage from heaven down to the angel Gabriel (Jabreel) who revealed it in the seventh century CE over 23 years to an Hejazi Arab trader, Muhammad, who became the Prophet of Islam. According to Toby Lester, many Muslims find not only the religious fault-finding but also Western scholarly investigation of textual evidence "disturbing and offensive". The most common criticisms concern various pre-existing sources that Quran relies upon, internal consistency, clarity and ethical teachings. In "critical-historical study" scholars (such as John Wansbrough, Joseph Schacht, Patricia Crone, Michael Cook) seek to investigate and verify the Quran's origin, text, composition, history, examining questions, puzzles, difficult text, etc. accepted by Muslim Islamic scholars but also in the sense of being found fault with by those - including Christian missionaries and other skeptics hoping to convert Muslims - who argue it is not divine, not perfect, and/or not particularly morally elevated. The Quran has been subject to criticism both in the sense of being the subject of an interdisciplinary field of study where secular, (mostly) Western scholars set aside doctrines of its divinity, perfection, unchangeability, etc. The Quran is viewed to be the scriptural foundation of Islam and is believed by Muslims to have been sent down by Allah (God) and revealed to Muhammad by the angel Jabreel ( Gabriel). I never charge them, and never would - I get a thrill when those I mentor experience their own success.Ī lot of people have side gigs, but few bring in six figures per year. I have helped eight friends and coworkers open their own stores on Teachers Pay Teachers. I now see my confidence coming through in my ability and willingness to teach others. That's why it's been such an amazing balance.īut I had to overcome the "What do I do know? I'm not in business" mentality. Jerome helped me understand SEO, marketing and how to step into your consumers' shoes. I majored in education, so I've never had a business or sales mindset at all. Did running a successful side hustle help you build confidence in or out of the classroom? You started a business without any entrepreneurial experience. Once you marry all those things, you won't make something that might work, or could work, or should work. You've got to find consumers for that market and interview them, so that you know it so innately and so intimately that you can see the holes. It's another to really know it, so you have to research it. It's one thing to have a career in market. What do you mean by that? How do you build that intuition? You need those things to identify gaps and build your intuition. Powell: Yeah, I think so - especially if you have a combination of passion and knowing the market. Here, Powell discusses what you need to start a worksheet side hustle, why her side hustle has succeeded so far and how her confidence as a first-time entrepreneur has helped her grow as a person.ĬNBC Make It: Do you think your side hustle is replicable? "Basic sellers" keep 55% of their sales, while "premium sellers" pay $59.95 per year to keep 80% of their sales. First, you’ll need to know why you’re writing to us if you’re going to write to us. The code is pretty simple. Before moving forward with any product or service, we need to answer all of the questions. I've come up with a concept of IInteractableController. As long as it's a pretty good solution, I've wanted to come up with something more robust. In some games, you walk over the key and it picks itself up automatically. Key is lying on the ground and I want to pick it up. The very important thing when it comes to items is interaction with them. An easily configurable code, which can be put on as component on any GameObject and should be ready to use. One of the key components is an item system. I think the Character controller is not very interesting, as it is really basic. I've written a pretty simple Rigidbody Character controller script, which takes care of first-person camera and all the common operations, such as clamping the player's look rotation, so they don't go upside down and similar things. Most of the stuff I've done is the simple "starting ground" work. With all that being said, I think it's about time to look into what I've done this week and try to explain the written systems as best I can. Other one is to keep consistent progress and try to keep the project development going. I can open any of these posts at any time and analyze the code, tell what could've been done better and so on. First point why this might be a good idea is some sort of restrospective. While working on these, I've figured that it might not be a bad idea to write down my progress (hopefully every or every other week). So I've started working on some core components of the game. First person, basic movement and a possibility to interact with virtually anything were some of the key aspects I had in mind when starting this project. I've come up with few ideas (which were expanded by ChatGPT, who I might cover in future posts), but ultimately I've settled with an escape room game. Working on various prototypes and things, which differ from my normal job can be a fun way to test myself and expand my knowledge in slightly other and new things. I've been thinking for a while, which game prototype I could work on in my free time. We strung twine and used mini clothes pins to hold the name suggestion cards. We bought wood from Home Depot and they can cut it for you in any size for free. The backdrop for the baby name suggestion board was created by sanding, staining, and nailing the wooden boards together. To add to the whimsical feel, I had my two kids paint the trees which they loved doing! We left the paint to dry overnight and then cut and put on the wall with tape. If the animals do not match, put them back in their eggs. If the animals match, set them off to the side. We made a photo back drop by painting on trees, ferns, mushrooms, and grass on craft paper. How to Play: The goal of the game is to match the baby animals to their moms. Whats a party without a photo back drop? At all our parties, we always try to do some sort of a backdrop to help guests interact and have something fun to do. To get them to stick together you can either use peanut butter or melted chocolate. You just add Hersheys kisses to mini vanilla wafers. The apothecary jar full of little acorns were also super easy to make. Easy DIY decor is the best! We added a few sprigs of rosemary behind the little critters on the cake to add some greens.įor the Trail Mix Bar, we used 8 different ingredients to mix and match: almonds, craisins, cashews, M&Ms, caramel popcorn, pretzels, chocolate chips, and mini marshmallows. You just need a little bit of natural burlap fabric which you can cut into into diamonds and then hot glue over twine. The mini rustic banner was super easy to make. To add texture to the table, we used lemon leaves-which are an inexpensive way to fill out space while adding vibrant colors to a dessert table.įor the cake, we had the bakery make a simple almost naked cake and we put our own woodland toppers we bought online. For the greens, we used babys breath in mason jars tied with twine. She expressed interest in a Woodland theme shower so we we tried to bring a lot of the outdoor elements indoors by using lots of wooden platters, greens, rocks, twigs and pine cones. So of course we were thrilled when we found out she was pregnant! We started out our build pondering the B650 motherboard and whether we should install parts on it outside the Pano case, or mount it in the case first. (Credit: Joseph Maldonado) Getting Down to Zero: The Build We supplied an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X CPU, a Gigabyte Radeon RX graphics card, a WD Black 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD, and a kit of Corsair Dominator RAM from our own stash to complete the build. MSI also sent a modular power supply from its MAG series and an all-in-one CPU cooler from its MasterLiquid series to help flesh out the build. As we’ll get into in our test build below, the Pano case ends up with a formidable mass of wire all behind one side, but we managed to keep it sorted to the point that we were able to snap the side on with the first try. Of course, this creates quite the cable logjam behind the right side panel. The one exception is the graphics card’s power cable, which still needs to be snaked out to the card assuming you’re using a card with power needs beyond the PCIe slot (which means, all but the very lowest end video cards these days). (Credit: Joseph Maldonado) (Credit: Joseph Maldonado) You make all the usual connections behind the board, out of sight of the interior of the case. These connections all jut through gaps in the motherboard tray. That includes the 24-pin and 8-pin power connectors, the SATA sockets, the case and CPU fan/pump headers, the audio and front-panel headers, and the USB headers. The secret cable sauce of Pano and the Project Zero boards is the positioning of all the cable connectors on the back of the PCB, around the outer perimeter on three sides. (The Pano case is designed for MicroATX.) MSI will also be offering a B760 Project Zero board ($209.99) for Intel Socket 1700 CPUs. The board sample we received is the AMD Ryzen-based MSI B650 Project Zero ($229.99), a MicroATX motherboard employing the AM5 socket for AMD’s latest desktop chips. The case sample we received costs $109.99. The Pano cases work with (for now) one of two special motherboards designed to interface with the motherboard tray of the Pano. MSI’s First Project Zero hardware consists of a PC case, dubbed the Pano M100 PZ (Pano as in “panorama”), which comes in white or black variants (as well as versions of each with and without four pre-installed RGB fans). (Credit: Joseph Maldonado) From Project Zero to Hero: The First Gear The first iteration, dubbed “Project Zero,” is coming to the US market by mid-January, and we got an early look at the first hardware, taking it out for a test build just prior to CES 2024. MSI has been developing a similar cable-hiding PC design in parallel. The Asus demo design we saw also featured a specially designed graphics card with an underside power connector that drew power straight through the motherboard no PCIe cable or special, gawky Nvidia power cable jutting out the edge. ("BTF," get it?) That way, the interior looks clean. The cables haven't actually gone away, or even been reduced in number in Asus’ case, they’re simply hidden behind the solid side panel, with the connectors that run to the motherboard all hidden on the back of the board. But mostly, it's just about making the PC look great inside. The idea is to make the interior sleek, clear of wiring, and maximally optimized for airflow. This and the solution we’re looking at here today are a purely aesthetic movement, intended for PCs with a glass side panel or three. Still, if you can’t make it, why not fake it? At Computex 2023, we saw a demo from Asus of its own solution to the wire-free PC, which it dubs BTF ("Back-To-the-Future," for reasons that will be clear in a moment). We've seen a couple of radical, impractical prototypes over the years that make power connections somewhat modular, but nothing that feasibly makes a PC wire-free inside.
